1971 Almos Annual Christmas Dinner

I found this glass at the thrift store over the summer and was very intrigued. It reads “1971 Annual Christmas Dinner” with a truck labeled “Almo Anti Pollution Services” that looks like it gives off a ton of exhaust and may be carrying a toxic liquid.  Despite the text this glass seems both incredibly unfestive and pro-pollution.  What an odd glass to both create and give out as a favor at an event.  Was this their Christmas bonus that year?  I hope not.  But I saved this bad boy for Christmas and decided to make a drink that would both look pretty in this curious glass and taste like the holiday celebration these employees deserved in 1971.  Since it’s a tall glass I wanted a nice non alcoholic base to take the edge off- you don’t want to get too sloppy at a work office party.  So I started with a homemade mulled cranberry juice.  It has the tartness of cranberry with all the festive flavors mixed in.  I then tried a few different main spirits and found that gin really highlighted that Christmasy flavor without taking anything away.  I then rounded the whole thing out with some triple sec and we had the perfect guest list going.  This is a nice holiday treat that you can take your time drinking so you don’t embarrass yourself in front of the boss.  So shake a few of these up with your coworkers and make your New Year’s resolution to reduce pollution!
