Au Currant

I found this beauty of a glass at the worst Goodwill store I’ve ever encountered.  Everything was thrown on shelves with no care or purpose.  I almost left immediately after I walked in, but decided to stick it out and look for any treasures.  This tiny glass was shoved on the back of a shelf next to glassware sets in large plastic bags and I was glad I was able to save her.  When I got her home and gave her a long gaze I got some currant vibes.  I had also recently bought crème de cassis, a black currant liqueur, that I originally wasn’t planning to buy so it worked out nicely.  You see, my dudes The Sloppy Boys had recently used crème de cassis in a few cocktails on their podcast and I was holding out on buying it since I already have so many very specific liqueurs.  However, within the next few days the universe did that thing where crème de cassis was mentioned in two other very random situations (one Mary Tyler Moore episode and one recipe suggestion from a family member) and I felt like I just needed to give in and pick up a bottle.  When coming up with this cocktail I decided to do a take on the French Martini, which is vodka, pineapple juice, and Chambord or crème de cassis .  But I decided to switch the vodka with my favorite spirit tequila, and add a little lime juice to even out the edges.  The result is an elegant tasty treat.  So consider this a sign from the universe that you should buy that bottle of crème de cassis and stay au courant with an au currant.
