Smashing the Plates

I found this teeny tiny blue goblet at an antique store.  I’m obsessed with these 70s goblet style glasses and I loved how small this one was.  When I got it home, my husband said it was giving him Greek vibes and the journey began.  Admittedly, I’m not super versed in Greek culture or drinks so I started researching some Greek spirits and decided to go with Metaxa 5 Star.   It’s a Greek brandy with a sweet warming flavor and the tiny little goblet felt like it would make a great glass for an after dinner digestif.  I wanted to add some complimenting, but not too overpowering, Greek flavors to round out the drink so I made a cucumber mint simple syrup.  The result was a bright but still warming delightful sipper that would pair perfectly with any dessert.  I also used this opportunity to name my Greek inspired drink after my favorite Sloppy Boys song Smashing The Plates.  Let’s go smash some plates.  Opa!
