Ahooogah!
I got this glass for Christmas from my sister-in-law Kim. She got me a bunch of fun glassware so you’ll see her name a few times in upcoming drinks. Of course being the mature adult I am, the first thing I thought of when I saw these old timey cars was “Ahooogah!” The ridiculously loud and comical car horn noise. I had a few other not so stupid names for this drink but this one really stuck. I brought the car glass over to the bar to see which booze it seemed to connect to. Once again it felt right to use apricot. It may just be the colors on the glass. It also might be the placement of the apricot liqueur on the bar that seems to tip the scale when I do this test. Either way, we started with apricot. I then decided to mix it with something a little different than I normally would and ended up settling on a dark rum. The vanilla notes and spiciness really complimented the apricot well. And since it’s a bit of a taller glass I added in some ginger beer to give it a little bit of a bite. The mixture creates a fun, sweet and zingy sipper. Kim also gave us a cocktail smoker for Christmas (amazing gift giver, I know!) I figured these two cars look like they’d probably give off some serious smokey exhaust so why not finish this off with some oak wood chips smoked on top. This drink is fun, has some depth and who can resist ordering a drink called Ahooogah! Make sure you give it some gusto!
