Hidden Spark

Stop what you’re doing right now and look at this stunning drink-  Hidden Spark.  I found this tiny glass at the thrift store among all the other glasses.  I was immediately drawn in and I wasn’t sure why.  She was smaller than a normal glass but she wasn’t a remarkable shape and at first just seemed to be clear glass.  When I picked it up though I noticed a little something special.  She had the most delicate of hues- almost a gold or chestnut coloring that you could only see at very specific angles.  I was fascinated.  I checked around the store and found nothing else of interest so I brought my treasure to the register.  The cashier looked at my single tiny fifty cent glass and said “this is it?  I guess it’s cute…”  She did not see my glass’s spark.  A couple days later I was wandering around a very large liquor store looking for inspiration and found some hibiscus flowers in syrup in the garnish section.  I bought a jar and thought they would look perfect in my new tiny, secretly special glass.  When I started to construct my drink I knew I wanted to use clear liquids to highlight both the flower and the glass’s mild tint.  And I wanted something a little floral so I used gin as my base with supporting roles from triple sec and aloe vera liqueur.  The result is a drink with delightful sparks of flavor that are the perfect companion to this tiny wonder of a glass.  So next time you are drawn to a seemingly ordinary glass, take the time to really look at it in order to find its hidden spark.
