Butterfly In The Sky

I found this set at 2nd Ave Thrift Store.  I was absolutely not in the market for a set of 7 glasses.  I seriously do not have room in my home for a set of 7 glasses.  But when I spotted these I had to have them.  I nearly knocked over a woman in the aisle who was standing near them. They were so 70s and whimsical I just couldn’t resist.  And I never like breaking up a set… so I took home 7 butterfly glasses.  While staring at them, I wanted to lean into the yellow and orange.  I looked at my bar and found Galliano (purchased for my Bang in the Basement) and triple sec and thought the two would pair well with some gin.  I then wanted to lean a little more into the orange but wanted to use something other than orange juice.  It felt a little too obvious and frankly my tummy isn’t always the biggest fan of orange juice.  So I figured why not try some mandarin orange seltzer.  It’s light and bubbly which can be reminiscent of a flying butterfly.  And with the size of these glasses, it’s nice to fill them out with something other than booze.  It took only two tests to get the mixture perfect which is always a fun treat. This drink is light, bright and a perfect cocktail for these wonderful glasses. Did I need this set?  Absolutely not.  Am I happy I bought them and created this delightful drink for them?  You better believe it.  But you don’t have to take my word for it: mix up one of these light and airy cocktails and enjoy sipping it while listening to 8 tracks in your 70s basement.  And why not invite over your 6 closest friends to join you so you can make the most of this set!
